According to official reports, the Ukrainian air force has attacked and destroyed a barracks building used by the Russian military in the western Russian region of Kursk. The Khorne Group, which is close to the military in Kiev, published a video of the attack, presumably recorded by a drone. The exact location of the building was not disclosed. There was initially no information on possible victims.

The attack was a response to the Russian attack on a military school in Poltava. "Bring us more conscripts and paratroopers, we'll take care of you," it said. There was initially no reaction from the Russian side to the attack. The Ukrainian side's account could not be independently verified.

53 people were killed in the Russian attack on a building in Poltava, which according to official reports housed a communications school. A further 298 people were injured in the missile attack at the beginning of September.

Ukraine launched an offensive against the western Russian region of Kursk at the beginning of August. According to the military, it has so far taken control of around 1,300 square kilometers of Russian territory.
