US President Donald Trump has released the delivery of heavy bombs to Israel that had been withheld by his predecessor Joe Biden. The White House confirmed corresponding reports to the German Press Agency in Washington. The New York Times and the Axios portal wrote that the Pentagon had been instructed to continue the delivery of the 2,000-pound bombs. These are said to be Mk-84 bombs that the USA has in stock, the New York Times reported.

"Many things that were ordered and paid for by Israel, but not shipped by Biden, are now on their way!" Trump wrote on his online mouthpiece Truth Social. Last year, Biden's US administration halted a shipment of heavy bombs out of concern that they could be used in populated areas in the Gaza Strip.

The US wanted to persuade Israel's military to spare the civilian population during the offensive in the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip. This was a low point in relations between Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who sharply attacked the US government.
