"The investment will support massive new data centers in the Midwest and Sun Belt and will also serve to keep America on the cutting edge of technology," Trump told journalists on Tuesday.
The Sun Belt region refers to the southern states of the USA. "Artificial intelligence plays a very big role in the data centers, and that's going to be a very hot topic in the coming years," said the Republican, who begins his second term as US president on January 20.
The major high-tech companies in the USA are currently working flat out to develop ever more powerful artificial intelligence (AI) models. In view of the AI boom and the associated hunger for energy in data centers, US Internet companies have been increasingly relying on nuclear power as an energy source for some time now.
