The Swiss Lufthansa subsidiary Swiss will no longer fly to the Lebanese capital Beirut, which is under fire, until at least January 18. The announcement on this date is intended to provide more planning flexibility for passengers and crews, Swiss announced.

Affected passengers will be contacted, it added on Wednesday. The airline is offering free rebooking to a later travel date or a refund of the ticket price.

Beirut has been under fire for more than three weeks. The Israeli army has been attacking targets in the city from the air on a daily basis as part of the conflict with the Hezbollah militia.
