After a week of more than 1,000 Russian airstrikes against Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the country's allies to provide additional US Patriot air defense systems. "We need the strong support of our partners", Selensky announced on his Telegram messaging service channel. "More Patriots for Ukraine means more protection for lives." Several people were killed and injured in the attacks.

This week alone, Russia has attacked Ukraine with more than 660 glide bombs, around 550 drones and almost 60 missiles. 33 missiles, including ballistic missiles, and more than 300 drones were shot down by Ukrainian air defenses. At the same time, Zelensky published a video of the devastation caused by the attacks - for example in Kiev and Zaporizhia at the weekend, but also in Donbass.

Zelensky thanked the armed forces for fending off Russian air strikes. "But the task of continuing to strengthen the protection of our airspace remains," he said. Selensky repeatedly calls on Western supporters to deliver more air defense systems to the country.

Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian war of aggression for almost three years, during which, according to the Moscow Defense Ministry, further areas in the east of the country were also captured at the weekend.
