Italy Selenskyj for talks with Meloni in Rome
Following his participation in a meeting at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the Italian capital Rome this evening for talks. Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni received Zelensky for talks at her official residence, as seen on television.

Since taking office at the end of 2022, Meloni has been one of Ukraine's staunch supporters in the fight against Russia's war of aggression. At the same time, Meloni is considered by EU heads of government to be the prime minister with the closest contacts in the camp of US President-elect Donald Trump.
The Italian head of government had previously expressed her conviction at a press conference that the USA would not give up on Ukraine in its defensive struggle against Russia. "Trump has the ability to balance diplomacy and deterrence. I predict that it will be the same this time." There is great concern in Kiev that Trump will let Ukraine fall after three years of war.
