Take-offs and landings at the airport in the capital of the Russian republic of Tatarstan were temporarily suspended. Kazan is located more than 800 kilometers from the Russian capital Moscow. The city canceled major events at the weekend for security reasons.

The drone attacks were carried out in three waves and from different directions, the Ministry of Defense wrote on Telegram. It accuses Ukraine of attacking civilian infrastructure. Three drones were destroyed and three were repelled.

According to the Rossaviatsiya aviation authority, the regional airports in Izhvesk and Saratov were also temporarily closed for take-offs and landings for safety reasons. These restrictions usually last a few hours.

Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian invasion for almost three years with Western help. As part of its defense campaign, it also repeatedly attacks targets in Russia.
