On Monday, Rega flew two children with cancer from the Ukraine to Switzerland, each accompanied by a companion. The children were patients at the Ochmatdyt Children's Hospital, which was attacked by Russian missiles last week.

The two children were transported to two university hospitals, as the Conference of Cantonal Health Directors (GDK) wrote on Wednesday at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. It confirmed information from the "Blick" newspaper. One of the two children is under the age of ten.

Two adults were killed in the attack on the children's hospital in Ukraine. Over thirty people, including at least eight children, were injured. Switzerland subsequently offered Ukraine assistance. There is a national coordination office for such crisis situations. This is operated by Rega on behalf of the Federal Office for Civil Protection (Babs), as the GDK wrote.

Since September 2022, 25 ambulance flights have taken place with 49 people transported. 24 flights with 48 patients led to Switzerland, the report continued. One patient was repatriated to Ukraine following successful treatment in Switzerland.
