After violent clashes during protests in Bangladesh, demonstrators have stormed the prime minister's palace. This was shown on local television on Monday.

The autocratic head of government Sheikh Hasina is said to have fled to India by helicopter, according to a report in the daily newspaper "Prothom Alo" based on sources close to the situation. The demonstrators are demanding Hasina's resignation.
