More than a thousand people demonstrated for Palestine and Lebanon in Zurich on Saturday afternoon. "On the streets until liberation", they demanded at the authorized demonstration.

Israel has been massacring the Palestinian population in Gaza for more than a year and is now extending this "life-despising violence" to Lebanon, criticized the Palestine Committee Zurich, which had called for the demonstration, in an Instagram post.

"Let's take the steadfastness of the Palestinian people as an example and raise our voices again and again on the streets," the committee demanded.

More and more demonstrators responded to this call after 3 p.m. - according to an estimate by a Keystone SDA correspondent, there were probably over a thousand people on Helvetiaplatz.

The demonstrators carried Lebanese and Palestinian flags and placards with slogans such as "Freedom for Palestine" and "Stop the Genocide". "The future of the Arab world depends on this moment," a spokeswoman for the Palestine Committee shouted into the crowd. The Gaza Strip is being wiped out. "Our task is to oppose this," said the spokesperson.

After speeches on Helvetiaplatz, the demonstration route led to Bahnhofstrasse, where a minute's silence was on the agenda.
