For the Greens and SP Women, the new federal figures do not change anything with regard to the prospects for the AHV. The vote on raising the women's retirement age from 64 to 65 (AHV 21) was based on incorrect figures.

The Greens and the SP women want the vote on AHV 21 in September 2022 to be annulled. Corresponding complaints have been submitted. The new data from the Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO) on the financial prospects of the AHV for 2033 will make the numbers salad even bigger, write the Greens at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. "Women have unjustifiably lost a pension year, the vote must be repeated."

The Greens want to submit an interpellation in the coming days to demand more clarity about the processes at the FSIO that led to the error.

A question of democracy

For SP Women Co-President Tamara Funiciello, it is unacceptable from a democratic point of view that the vote was based on false figures. "The Federal Council must clearly state that the figures given are estimates" that can be refuted by reality, she said.

"Since 1958, the AHV forecasts have never been correct," continued the Bernese National Councillor. "The authorities have always claimed that the AHV was much worse off than it actually was."
