Federal Council elections Martin Candinas decides not to run for the Federal Council

Martin Candinas, the centrist Graubünden National Councillor who is being touted as the successor to Federal Councillor Viola Amherd, does not want to become a Federal Councillor. He announced on Monday morning that he would not be standing as a candidate.

As unique and appealing as the office of Federal Councillor is, it does not currently ignite an inner fire in him, wrote Candinas.

He wants to devote himself to his current tasks. He remains committed to his family and the people who elected him to the National Council and his various mandates.
