In view of the tense security situation in the Middle East, Lufthansa is extending its flight stop to Israel and Iran. Flights to Tel Aviv and the Iranian capital Tehran will be canceled up to and including October 14, the airline announced in Frankfurt. Israeli and Iranian airspace will be bypassed until then. Flights to the Lebanese capital Beirut will also remain suspended as planned up to and including October 26.

The situation will continue to be monitored closely and will be assessed further in the coming days, the company explained. Affected passengers can rebook to a later travel date free of charge or receive a refund of the ticket price.

Following the recent wave of explosions involving portable radio receivers in Lebanon, Lufthansa had already announced that it was suspending its flights to and from Israel and Tehran. In addition to the core airline, the Lufthansa Group also includes Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings.
