Israel's armed forces say they have attacked 180 targets of the Shiite Hezbollah militia in the south of neighboring Lebanon. Among other things, "thousands" of ready-to-use devices for firing rockets at Israel were destroyed, the military said. There was also artillery fire. Lebanese security circles reported more than 100 attacks in the south of the country.

According to Israeli military sources, around 90 shells were fired towards Israel from Lebanon. Warning sirens wailed in northern Israel. There were initially no reports of casualties on either side.

On Friday, Israel's army carried out an attack on a suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut, killing 16 Hezbollah members, including several high-ranking commanders. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, a total of at least 37 people were killed. Three children were among the casualties.
