Following the issuing of arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Joav Galant, Israel intends to appeal the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The country has informed the court of this, according to a statement from the office of the Israeli head of government.

Israel has also asked the court to postpone the execution of the arrest warrants. No reasons were given for this.

The statement went on to say that it was clear from the appeal that the court's decision to issue arrest warrants was without factual or legal basis. Netanyahu's office did not provide any details on this either.

The ICC issued the arrest warrants last week for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza war.
