Israel has once again been massively bombarded with rockets from Lebanon. According to the Israeli army, around 200 missiles and several drones were fired at northern Israel by the Shia militia Hezbollah within a single day.

In many villages, the air raid sirens sounded repeatedly. Some of the projectiles were intercepted, while others fell over uninhabited areas. There was initially no information about possible casualties or major damage.

Israel's declared aim is to drive the Shiite militia Hezbollah from the border so that around 60,000 evacuated Israelis can return to their homes.

For its part, the Israeli army continued its massive airstrikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon, including in residential areas of the capital Beirut. The number of casualties was not initially known.
