Talks have begun on the compensation to be paid to the municipalities affected by the planned nuclear waste repository in Stadel ZH. The actual negotiations will start in 2025.

The Association of Swiss Nuclear Power Plant Operators (Swissnuclear) is responsible for the compensation negotiations. It is preparing the negotiations with other parties, Swissnuclear informed the Keystone-SDA news agency in response to an inquiry. Initial talks have already taken place.

As soon as the formal framework has been prepared and all relevant topics have been identified, negotiations can begin. This will be the case in the coming year, writes Swissnuclear.

On November 19, the National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste (Nagra) will also submit the 30,000-page general license application for the repository. The federal authorities will then check the application for completeness.
