Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump does not want to run again in the 2028 election if he loses this November. When asked whether he could imagine running again in four years, the 78-year-old former president replied on the program "Full Measure", which was broadcast on several US stations: "No, I don't. I don't think so. I think that's it then. I can't imagine that at all." But he hopes to be successful this time.

In the presidential election on November 5, Trump is running against Vice President Kamala Harris. It is unclear whether he will accept the result if the Democrat wins. After losing the 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden, incumbent Trump tried to turn his defeat into a victory. On January 6, 2021, supporters of the Republican violently stormed the Capitol in Washington to prevent the official certification of Biden's victory in the presidential election.

To this day, Trump continues to spread unsubstantiated claims of electoral fraud at the time and dodges questions about whether he will recognize the result of this year's presidential election. Observers fear that he could once again sow doubts about the outcome of the election if he loses.
