Ahead of the G20 summit in Brazil, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called on the heads of state and government of the industrialized and emerging countries to take action. The world is facing massive problems such as climate change, poverty and the wars in Ukraine, the Middle East and Sudan, said Guterres in Rio de Janeiro. "The international community expects the G20 to deliver." The group has enormous economic power and must lead by example.

The two-day G20 summit begins in Rio de Janeiro on Monday. The meeting in the coastal metropolis will focus on the fight against poverty and the reform of international institutions. However, international crises such as the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East are also likely to be discussed at the summit.
