The 51-year-old Graubünden cantonal councillor Marcus Caduff (center) has decided not to run for the Federal Council. This was announced in a press release issued by the Center Party of Graubünden on Friday.

Caduff was quoted in his party's press release as saying that he had come to the conclusion that the time was not yet ripe for him to stand as a candidate. At present, he said, he lacked the experience as a national parliamentarian and thus the knowledge of the interaction between the Federal Council and the bicameral parliament.

Another decisive factor in his decision was the sacrifices and burdens for his family in the event of an election, Caduff continued.

The head of the Graubünden Department of Economic and Social Affairs comes from Lumnezia GR and has been a member of the Graubünden cantonal government since 2019. He is chairing the committee this year.

Caduff has been politically active since 2004 - first as president of the CVP Lumnezia, later as a member of the cantonal parliament and finally as parliamentary group president.
