Following the party's failures in several elections, the leadership of the German Green Party is making personnel changes. Co-chairs Ricarda Lang and Omid Nouripour announced the resignation of the entire party executive in Berlin in November. The news portal "Table Media" had previously reported.

In the state elections in eastern Germany this month, the Greens were kicked out of the state parliaments in Brandenburg and Thuringia, and in Saxony they only just cleared the five percent hurdle. They had previously co-governed in all three states. In national polls, the Greens had recently fallen below the ten percent mark for the first time in years. In the European elections in June, they achieved a disappointing 11.9 percent across Germany - after more than 20 percent in the 2019 election.
