The Director of the Federal Social Insurance Office is stepping down. Stéphane Rossini is stepping down at the end of June 2025. His office had hit the headlines due to miscalculations in the AHV's financial outlook.

The Federal Council was informed of the appointment at its meeting, the Federal Department of Home Affairs announced on Wednesday. The position will be advertised.

There had already been speculation about Rossini's departure in recent days. The Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO) admitted the calculation errors in August. They had led to implausibly high AHV expenditure in the longer-term forecasts.

Finally, in September, the federal government corrected the assumed AHV expenditure in 2033 downwards by CHF 2.5 billion - to CHF 69 billion.
