Following another suspected attack attempt on Donald Trump, top Israeli politicians have expressed their solidarity with the Republican presidential candidate.

"Sara and I were shocked by the second assassination attempt against President Trump, and we were relieved to hear that it also failed," wrote Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Platform X. "But we should not rely on luck alone."

Netanyahu and Trump were considered close allies during Trump's time in office. According to media reports, Netanyahu would like to see Trump win the upcoming US election.

Netanyahu expressed the hope that "all measures will be taken to ensure that such deadly attacks on a US presidential candidate are thwarted in advance".

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz also sent Trump the "best wishes" of the Israeli people following the "despicable attempted attack". Israel is "deeply grateful" to Trump for his "contribution to the security and prosperity of our nation". He condemned "any attempt to implement political views through threats or violence". Political violence should never undermine the right of the American people "to choose their path freely and democratically".
