Romania's army has found debris from a Russian drone on the border with Ukraine near Periprava. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense in Bucharest on Monday. The search was initiated after the overflight of drones was reported on Sunday. There have been several such incidents in the region since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

Periprava is located on the Danube, less than 500 meters from the Ukrainian border. Another possible drone crash site near Caraorman in the Danube delta, around 40 kilometers inland from the border with Ukraine, is also currently being investigated. Both cases involve uninhabited, swampy areas, according to the ministry.

On Sunday, Romanian authorities warned the population of the region close to the border near Constanta and Tulcea of possible drone crashes. Two Romanian F-16 fighter jets took off to observe the drone's flight. NATO noted the incident with concern, but did not see it as a deliberate attack by Russia on alliance partners.
