Lebanese security circles had reported that the attack had been aimed at a Hezbollah official. There was no confirmation of this from the Israeli military.

The Ministry of Health reported that 84 people were killed and 213 others injured in nationwide attacks on Saturday. Since the beginning of the armed conflict between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia, the total number of victims has risen to around 3,750 dead and 15,600 injured. The statistics do not differentiate between civilians and combatants.

In addition to the war in the Gaza Strip, Israel is also at war with Hezbollah in Lebanon. According to Israel, Hezbollah is firing at Israel in support of the Islamist Hamas, which carried out a massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in around 1,200 deaths. Israel responded with airstrikes and a ground offensive.
