At least four people have been killed by suspected Ukrainian mortar fire in the Russian-occupied town of Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine.

A further seven were injured, as the Moscow-appointed governor of the region, Vladimir Saldo, announced on Telegram. He also published a picture of a destroyed minibus. The information cannot be independently verified.

Nova Kakhovka is located on the Russian-controlled southern bank of the lower reaches of the Dnipro River. The town became known after the nearby Dnipro dam was blown up in the summer of 2023, presumably by Russian troops. Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for more than two and a half years.
