The coalition parties in the Dutch government have met for crisis talks. The reason for the crisis is a conflict with the center party NSC after alleged racist remarks about Muslims and Moroccan Dutch people following the attacks on Israeli football fans in Amsterdam last week.

The Moroccan-born NSC State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Nora Achahbar, announced her resignation as a result. It is unclear whether the NSC ministers will also leave the coalition. In this case, the alliance would no longer have a majority in parliament.

The governing coalition, which for the first time also includes the radical right-wing party of populist Geert Wilders, has been in office for just over four months. It is considered to be very unstable.

The government had announced tough measures against anti-Semitism. Wilders had called for those responsible to be expatriated. Prime Minister Dick Schoof had blamed Moroccan Dutch nationals. However, investigations by the public prosecutor's office are still ongoing. It is not yet known who is responsible for the attacks. According to the police, Israeli fans had also committed acts of violence and insulted Palestinians with racist slogans.
