Disability insurance Confederation assumes negative financial development of IV
The prospects for IV have deteriorated. In the middle of three scenarios, it would not be possible for the social insurance scheme to reduce its debts on its own in the medium term. The IV is currently in debt to the AHV to the tune of around ten billion francs.

According to the Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO), the number of new pensions has been rising since 2017. From 2020 to 2022, it was relatively stable at a high level. It has increased significantly again since 2023. At the same time, the federal government is assuming lower retirement rates than previously assumed.
Among other things, the pensions of part-time employees and people with an addiction or mental illness have risen, particularly among young people.
"Due to these recent trends, the probability of a negative development of the IV is increasing", according to the updated financial outlook of the Disability Insurance (IV), which the Federal Council was informed about on Wednesday.
