At least 26 people have died in Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, according to the authorities. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, seven children and six people were among those killed in an attack. The attack took place in the mountainous town of Almat, around 15 kilometers east of the port city of Byblos. The rescue work was still ongoing. The ministry therefore feared an even higher number of victims.

According to consistent Lebanese media reports, internally displaced persons from the eastern Bekaa Plain were housed in the building. According to the TV station TV Al-Jadid, 35 refugees from several families were staying there. The newspaper "L'Orient Le Jour" reported that residents had buried a young family member on Saturday. He is said to have been killed as a Hezbollah fighter.

Another airstrike in the southern city of Adlun killed three paramedics, according to the ministry. The ministry condemned the attack as a "war crime".

In parallel to the war in the Gaza Strip, Israel is also waging a war with the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia in Lebanon. The latter has been firing at Israel for a year; according to its own account, in support of the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which in turn caused a massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in more than a thousand deaths.
