Around a thousand people gathered in Bern on Saturday to demonstrate for the right to migration and asylum. The rally was held under the motto "No borders between us".

The demonstration was called by the migration policy movement Solidarité sans frontières and more than a hundred other organizations and parties. The participants gathered on Schützenmatte in the early afternoon, as reported by a correspondent from the Keystone-SDA news agency. The route of the procession led through the city center to the Federal Palace.

The asylum and migration regime is characterized by exclusion and disenfranchisement, they criticized. Many people living here are reduced to their migration history and marginalized in a racist manner.

This needs to change. "We are all part of an open and diverse society," the appeal said. "We will not allow ourselves to be divided."
