Despite several relevant previous convictions, a 62-year-old man was repeatedly guilty of sexually assaulting teenagers. The Zurich District Court has now sentenced him to 38 months' imprisonment.

The sentence will be suspended in favor of inpatient treatment. The court also ordered the man from Sri Lanka to be expelled from the country for five years, valid throughout the Schengen area. It found the 62-year-old guilty of sexual assault, sexual acts with a child, multiple attempted sexual acts with children and sexual harassment.

The current trial involved assaults on six young people between the ages of 14 and 17. The accused always approached them on SBB trains. In his interrogation, he claimed that he had a "habit of touching people", vowed to do better and asked for a "very last chance". The district court did not grant him this.
