Switzerland is having difficulties checking the non-re-export rules for war material in India. Last November, a Swiss delegation was unable to inspect all the weapons delivered to the country.

According to a report obtained by the Keystone-SDA news agency, the Swiss delegation was only able to "physically inspect" a small proportion of the weapons delivered to India. Several of the checks were carried out by video call. The result of the war material inspection was therefore "unsatisfactory".

The report by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) also raises the question of whether the unverified firearms could have been passed on. Swiss radio and television SRF was the first Swiss medium to report on this report on Thursday.

For a few years now, Switzerland has been able to demand the right to check compliance with non-re-export rules for war material on site when exporting weapons.
