The body discovered in Valais has been identified as the mother suspected of killing her three children in France. The investigation into the exact circumstances is ongoing.

The body discovered in a vehicle in Champéry in Valais on Wednesday has been identified as the mother suspected of killing her three children in Taninges, Haute-Savoie. This information has been confirmed by the public prosecutor's office in Bonneville.

Prosecutor Boris Duffau told the AFP news agency that the Swiss authorities have confirmed the identity of the deceased. She is the mother of the three children. The autopsy results, which should shed light on the cause of death of the 45-year-old teacher, are still pending.

The children, two boys aged 2 and 11 and a 13-year-old girl, were found on Tuesday with stab wounds in their home in a small hamlet in Taninges. This municipality is close to the Swiss border.

The public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into deliberate homicide in order to clarify the exact circumstances of the crime. The investigation is still ongoing in order to understand the background to this tragic incident.
