The pandas are on the loose in Hong Kong: a sea of plastic bears has been on display at Hong Kong airport. Over the course of the month, the 2,500 sculptures are to be exhibited at various locations in the Chinese Special Administrative Region in response to panda fever in the city.

There has been excitement among parts of the population since August, when panda twins were born in Hong Kong. Their mother, Ying Ying, gave birth to them a day before her 19th birthday, making her the oldest known first-time panda mother in human care.

The twins, a male and a female, are the first pandas born in Hong Kong. They live in Ocean Park, where the panda sculptures are also due to make a stop. The Hong Kong government hopes that the campaign will also attract tourists to the city.
