After the heavy snowfall of the last few days, Switzerland got off to a largely frosty start on Saturday morning, with a few exceptions. It was coldest in the high Alps and the known cold-air lakes. Meanwhile, the situation on public transport returned to normal.

In Basel, all bus and streetcar lines were running regularly again on Saturday morning. The streetcars in the city of Bern gradually resumed service.

According to the private weather service Meteonews, the coldest temperatures on Saturday morning were recorded in Buffalora/Ofenpass in the Engadine at minus 18.6 degrees, on Corvatsch GR (-18.1 degrees) and on the Jungfraujoch at 16.5 degrees. Double-digit temperatures below zero were also recorded in Bivio GR (-15.3 degrees), in La Brévine in Neuchâtel (-17.5 degrees) and on the Säntis in eastern Switzerland (-11.8 degrees).

On the other hand, there were positive temperatures and therefore no frost in Altenrhein SG and Le Bouveret VS on Lake Geneva with 2.7 and 2.1 degrees respectively. According to forecasts, the Alpine valleys can expect a light Föhn wind in the afternoon.
