Agriculture Farmers' movement emphasizes demands with protest in Bern

At a rally in Bern's Liebefeld on Tuesday, the farmers' movement demanded that politicians and the administration listen more. The movement called for less administrative work, more planning security and reasonable prices.

Around 1000 people took part in the demonstration in front of the Federal Office for Agriculture (BWL), as estimated by a reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency on site. The Swiss Farmers' Dialogue group had explicitly called on people not to drive up with tractors, but to turn up with bells and bells.

The protesters complied with the call and also took protest signs, cloths with inscriptions and cantonal flags with them, presumably to illustrate the national breadth of the movement.

The year 2024 was not an easy one for agriculture and farming families in Switzerland, characterized by difficult market situations, uncertain framework conditions and major difficulties in cultivation due to the weather, the farmers' movement stated in its protest letter.

Only the demand for greater appreciation of their work and products has so far been met with the voting decisions on agricultural issues in recent years. In their opinion, however, the demand for a reduction in the administrative burden imposed by the federal authorities has not been met.

The demand for more stability and planning security for farming families and the demand for fair and appropriate compensation for their products and work have also not been met.
