One year after his tragic death, an exhibition in New York will commemorate the eagle owl celebrity Flaco. The show "The Year of Flaco" will be on display from February 7 to July 6, according to the New York Historical Museum in Central Park in Manhattan.

The Eurasian eagle owl escaped from Central Park Zoo in early February 2023 after unknown persons cut the bars of his enclosure. Flying around the metropolis, the animal surprised and delighted people - and became a much-photographed "icon of New York", as the museum put it.

In February 2024, however, his life came to a tragic end after crashing into a building. An impromptu memorial to Flaco was created in Central Park, including letters and pictures, some of which will now also be on display in the exhibition. Photos and videos of the eagle owl are also on display.
