An analysis of last June's storms in the southern Graubünden valley of Misox has found that the authorities sometimes failed to adequately assess the dangers. In many places, more debris was washed up than expected. Nevertheless, liability has been rejected.

Two people died in the storms on June 21. One person is still missing. Heavy thunderstorms led to numerous debris flows that left devastation throughout the valley.
An analysis of the events has now revealed that for a third of the debris flows, the authorities' hazard maps did not correspond sufficiently with the event, as experts explained on Tuesday in Lostallo GR. In the case of a debris flow south of Sorte GR, for example, the hazard map calculated a maximum of 15,000 cubic meters of debris. In the end, up to 100,000 cubic meters came down.
Liability for the deaths and devastation in the valley has been ruled out, according to the responsible Graubünden councillor Carmelia Maissen (center). The hazard maps were drawn up to the best of her knowledge.
