The technology group Ascom has received an order worth over 3 million Swiss francs from the canton of Zurich. The company will equip nine prisons with a new security support system.

The first solution is to be installed in Winterthur prison by the end of 2024, as detailed in a press release issued on Thursday. The remaining eight systems will follow by 2026, and a five-year contract for maintenance and support has been concluded for each location.

According to Ascom, the security support system improves monitoring and care in prisons and rehabilitation institutions. Among other things, it displays inmate profiles for identification and location tracking. Ascom has already tested and installed the system in Zurich West prison in collaboration with the canton.
