The fire broke out on Sunday morning at around 7 a.m. for initially unknown reasons in the basement of an apartment building in the town center, according to the Valais cantonal police.
For safety reasons, the residents of two neighboring buildings were evacuated. Around 15 people, including seven firefighters, were transported to hospital for precautionary checks. There were no serious injuries, according to the statement.
According to the statement, the public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the fire. No details have been provided regarding the amount of property damage caused.
