In the case of the shooting of an Egyptian diplomat in Geneva in 1995, the defense lawyer of the main defendant demanded an acquittal for his client before the Federal Criminal Court on Thursday. He sharply criticized the investigations by the federal police.

The lawyer tried to correct the "overwhelming picture" of his client painted by the psychiatric experts and the federal prosecutor. He spoke of a complex man who was capable of lying, but who could also speak openly. The defendant's "bizarre" statements were not to be taken literally: "He is trying to exonerate himself in a clumsy way".

The defence lawyer also criticized the evaluation of the DNA traces found on the homemade pistol silencer used in the crime. The lawyer said that the expert reports were inaccurate. There was no explanation for the mixing of DNA from six different people, including the accused and his girlfriend at the time.
