40 percent of the Swiss population use AI tools such as ChatGPT. This use is almost a matter of course among young people, while older people use AI tools comparatively rarely. TV and audio, on the other hand, are booming across all generations.

These are the findings of the Digimonitor study published on Thursday by the Interessengemeinschaft elektronische Medien (Igem) and Werbemedienforschung. Among 15 to 19-year-olds, 70 percent already use AI tools. They are mainly used to answer questions, write texts and for translations.

Instagram remains the number one platform with 3.8 million users, but Snapchat, TikTok and BeReal are also popular among younger people.

Although streaming is gaining in importance, the reach of television remains unmatched: with 3.5 million viewers per day, TV serves an audience twice as large as YouTube. Netflix reaches less than a third of the TV audience. 80 percent of the population use radio and music streaming.
