The two police officers were on the road at around 7 p.m. because of an emergency call, the Graubünden cantonal police wrote on Thursday. A private individual had called for help because of the 25-year-old in an alleged mental state of emergency, a police spokeswoman confirmed at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency.

Everything then happened very quickly. On the way to the private individual, they received a report that the 25-year-old had fled and was heading towards the patrol. Shortly afterwards, the police wanted to block the man's path and parked their car across the road.

The officers were not even able to leave the vehicle before the 25-year-old drove into it, the spokeswoman continued. The two police officers were able to leave the hospital again on Thursday night.
