The ZSC Lions lose a home game for the first time since January 20. The Zurich team lost to HC Davos 2:3 n.V. Zurich SC had won all of its previous 25 home games.
And yet the ZSC Lions caused a curiosity. Although they lost two games in a row for the first time this season, they regained the lead in the table from Lausanne after just one day. Lausanne lost 2:6 in Zug.
Three teams are tied at the top: the ZSC Lions, HC Davos and Lausanne HC all have a total of 40 points. Had the ZSC Lions not been able to equalize through Jesper Frödén in the 56th minute against Davos and save his team a point, HC Davos would have taken over the top spot in the National League for the first time since January 4, 2015 and for the first time in almost 500 rounds (488).
Friday night's six games were spectacular and high-scoring. Most of the goals were scored by the teams from Bern: The SCL Tigers lost to the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers 4:5 after overtime, Biel lost 3:6 in Lugano, and SC Bern lost 4:5 on penalties in Freiburg.
Greg Ireland, the new coach at the helm of HC Ajoie, lost his first game with the Jura side in Kloten 2:5. Ireland was coaching in the National League for the first time since March 2019 (Lugano).
