HC Davos has done it. For the first time since January 4, 2015 and 492 rounds, the Davos team is leading the National League standings again.
Last weekend, the Davos team already sniffed at the top of the table twice. However, Josh Holden's team was denied the jump to the top of the table due to goals against ZSC in Zurich and at home against Freiburg.
This time, the Davos team did it because they took a 3:1 lead in Bern thanks to three goals in the space of 95 seconds in the final phase of the second period and went on to win 6:3. The two teams that were tied on points with Davos at the top of the table before Friday did not take maximum points. The ZSC Lions lost 1:2 in Ajoie; Lausanne won 3:2 against Gottéron in Freiburg only in overtime.
Genève-Servette Hockey Club - brilliant in the Champions Hockey League during the week - trailed 3:4 against the SCL Tigers in Langnau until the last minute, but prevailed 5:4 after just 16 seconds of overtime.
Lugano won the second Ticino derby of the season 3:1 against Ambri-Piotta, after Ambri had won the first duel in the Leventina 2:1. Goalie Leonardo Genoni made his comeback in Biel - Zug (1:2 after overtime). The 37-year-old over-goalie had been injured during pre-season preparations. Genoni saved 19 shots (out of 20).
In addition, the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers lost 1:2 against Kloten.
