After the football match between FC St. Gallen and the Turkish club Trabzonspor on Thursday evening, the St. Gallen police used rubber buckshot and irritants to prevent clashes between the two fan camps. In addition, around 50 pyrotechnic items were confiscated from the visiting fans.

In connection with the confiscations at the entrance to the stadium, eight people were stopped by the police, the St. Gallen city police announced on Friday.

Despite this, "massive amounts of pyrotechnics and very loud ground bangers" were set off in the Kybunpark guest sector during the Conference League qualifier. This led to two interruptions to the game. Pyrotechnics were also set off in the home sector at the start of the game.

After the end of the match, the police had to briefly use rubber bullets and irritants outside the stadium to prevent clashes between the two fan camps, the statement continued.

There were no significant incidents in the run-up to the match, either in the city center or around the stadium.
