Champions Inter Milan lost 2-1 in the derby against AC Milan for the first time in this Serie A season.
With the win against their city rivals, Milan, who got off to a poor start to the season, closed the gap on Inter to eight points. Both are now three points behind leaders Torino. In the 89th minute, defender Matteo Gabbia scored a well-deserved winner from a free-kick.
The first two goals came early on. Christian Pulisic put Milan ahead in the 10th minute after a remarkable solo run, while full-back Federico Dimarco equalized a quarter of an hour later.
Especially after the break, the "guests" pressed vehemently for the winning goal, from the 78th minute also with Noah Okafor, who had been withdrawn from the Swiss national team. Rafael Leão alone failed to beat Yann Sommer in the Italian champions' goal three times in promising positions before Gabbia finally scored.
