The Swiss women put themselves in an excellent starting position in the slalom in Kranjska Gora. Wendy Holdener as co-leader in the 2nd run, Camille Rast and Mélanie Meillard in 3rd and 6th place.

In the absence of Mikaela Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova, Holdener and 20-year-old Semmering winner Ljutic were 32 hundredths faster than Rast, who is looking to defend her lead in the discipline rankings and could move past Sara Hector back into the lead in the overall World Cup. Hector, Saturday's superior winner in the giant slalom, shares 6th place with Meillard.

This means there is a good chance that a Swiss woman will follow in the footsteps of Vlhova and Shiffrin in Kranjska Gora. The two dominators have shared the last four slalom victories on the Podkoren; Shiffrin won in 2018, Vlhova in 2020, 2022 and 2024. The last time the winner was not Vlhova or Shiffrin was in 2014 (Frida Hansdotter).

The last Swiss victory in Kranjska Gora dates back to 1991 (Vreni Schneider). The last Swiss slalom winner in the Slovenian resort was Erika Hess 41 years ago (at the end of 1983).

The second run starts at 13:00. Michelle Gisin was a good one and a half seconds behind Holdener in 16th intermediate place after 32 racers. Elena Stoffel (24th) still has to tremble, Aline Danioth will miss the second run.
