FC Bayern plans to honor Franz Beckenbauer at its general meeting. Club president Herbert Hainer also praises the work of coach Vincent Kompany.
FC Bayern Munich will dedicate its general meeting on December 8 to the memory of Franz Beckenbauer. This was announced by club president Herbert Hainer in an interview with the Münchner Merkur/tz media group. Hainer emphasized the immense importance of Beckenbauer for the club: "January will be the first anniversary of his death. We miss him. Without him, the club would not be what it is today." In addition to the commemoration, Hainer plans to present a new record in terms of membership figures at the meeting. With over 360,000 members, FC Bayern is already the largest sports club in the world.
Franz Beckenbauer has made history for both FC Bayern and the German national team. He led the team to the World Cup title as a player in 1974 and as team manager in 1990. Beckenbauer died on January 7 of this year at the age of 78 and was buried in Munich.
Herbert Hainer was also very positive about FC Bayern's current season. "Our team is giving us great pleasure and coach Vincent Kompany is doing an excellent job," said Hainer. He praised the inspiring football that the team has been playing since the start of the season and emphasized that the last five games have been won without conceding a goal. Hainer hopes that this run of success will continue after the international break.
