Mainz took the lead through an own goal by Stefan Lainer in the 55th minute. However, this did not last long. Just two minutes later, German international Tim Kleindienst equalized.
Silvan Widmer only came on for Mainz in the closing stages, while his national team colleagues Jonas Omlin and Nico Elvedi were absent through injury.
